The A-list dissolved when the female presence fell below a critical mass. Alot of that was about attention and being noticed by the women (even for other women.) Now that it's only guys, nobody gives a shit about what anybody else thinks of them.

BUT...

There was an A-list in the Lesson too, but that was based more in deep musical knowledge and the ability to make interesting and deep arguments. But the range of music types that get discussed over there has narrowed so much, there's no longer that kind of status jockeying there either

There used to be a lot more active posters back in the day because the average post would get pushed to page 2 in a couple minutes if it wasn't interesting or posted by an A-lister.

There were some posts that were obviously based on inside jokes among a small group of OKPs, but overall, A-list posters were people who generated entertaining content. Most of the A-list posters weren't even friendly with each other.

I lurk because it's the same topics (for the most part)
with a different generation of posters. This place
is still entertaining though.

and it became mainstream to socialize with strangers on the internet. OKPs are early adopters...let's pat ourselves on the back!
