Sounds like he's scattin his cadence to a beat, though I'm guessing *he* thinks it's a verse.

The actual melody Designer put down was dope. It only reminded me of the hook from DSN in that they both come across like the scarring you do trying to get your cadence down.

Thought was definitely making a statement on DSN. Contextually there's no real comparison between the two.

The sequencing programs have pre-determined what people will do. I'd go as far as to say the sequencing programs themselves are kinda composing the songs. It's like people doing the actual sequencing are just doing what the programs direct them to do. I don't know how else to put this...someone else could be more eloquent....but is the artist the tetris designer or the tetris player? This problem isn't exclusive to hip hop production...but it's certainly a good example of it.

Id disagree on that point.. I think particularly with fruity loops people are getting introduced to production/music etc step sequencing only (never actually playing drums) or keys... So an 8 bar loop to them is a set of little dots to select... Those dots dont mean anything in regards to the music to them so dropping a kick on the 3rd dot (just to see what it sounds like) isnt crazy...

I mean 808s have been hitting on the 2 and 4 now for years (ive gotten used to it) so it would make sense to start throwing kicks in whatever little dot is there and see what happens..

It would be dope if mike dean just went to rap a lot h town one time on the instrumentation and let travis do drums... Could be a killer new vibe
