In a rare move even the Lakers front office issued a statement about his death. I can't remember them doing that for any other media personality in the market, at least that didn't work for the team (obviously they did a lot for Chick Hearn when he died).

He survived the flesh-eating bacteria and kept losing weight. But it still seemed like every time I saw him he had some kind of tube or node or whatever hooked to him and the complexion of a ghost. It's crazy how much people can end up living through and it's weird what finally does them in. He was married, I guess you could say surprisingly, and he and his wife were separating.
