12886016, i think double-dates are corny but who else is going to see the internet at the howard?

at the howard theater? it's on the 18th.

we got a bad habit of getting to the spot late, so we want some guaranteed seating at the booth.

last time we lucked-up; long story, but the booth is where it's at.

but they're reserved for four people at $40 a head. not bad at all.

we have plenty of friends, but they all aint down with the internet, and of the ones that are - we don't feel like being around.

and the ONE couple that likes them, AND we feel like being around - is going to see a gotdamn DJ dressed as a KOALA! ... i've never!

... i typed all that to say, any lovebirds trying to get a booth for the internet show at the Howard?

singles are welcome, too. but then we need a fourth.

....

no? fine. we'll plan to get there on-time.
12886023, i'm interested

12886042, He only dresses like a koala for one song.
Posted by MEAT, Mon Aug-24-15 10:33 AM
A song for his daughter that he did on Yo Gabba Gabba
Kid Koala is easily my favorite scratch DJ
He scratches for Deltron
Here's his last individual tour http://youtu.be/tqTZFNvzELs (2 min promo video)

And he'll be in Brooklyn for 3 nights doing a live scratch session of a graphic novel he created a few years ago. So it's basically a puppet show of a graphic novel with a scratch session in the background.

Possible here. Depends on the lady and her recovery from a thing i'm not gonna get into here. Will try to touch back at the end of the week if you haven't already found people.

booths really are the way to go at the howard.

it can mean a difference between a night, and a great night.
12886069, Yeah, i did a booth at the Howard for Stephanie Mills

My lady just wrangled a seat there with an older couple we didn't know. With the exception of the older dude falling and bustin' his ass, it was a good look and a good night.

12886081, that's kinda how our shit went.

we did general admission for the dick gregory and paul mooney show.

we got thre late, and the only options were in the back, behind people standing and bars had all seats filled.

the shit wasn't sexy at all.

but then there was another couple that seemed to be in our same position (tired of standing, couldn't see shit, just a overall lack of quality experience)

but she noticed an empty booth and was like, 'im just gonna get in it'. the dude was just like 'ok babe' but then i was thinking, fuck that, we all about to sit there, 'let's go!'

so we all sat, and the shit was very cool.

but then there was a bamma server that was trying to tell the lady of the other couple that the table was reserved, bla bla bla, gotta go.

so she's like 'ok, we'll leave when the other folks get here'.

she basically wasn't taking no for an answer, and i supported her the whole time.

so, im like, 'this lady is great!' i got to buy them a drink!

so i go to buy em a drink, and then i notice a security guard escort all they asses out the booth (including my lady) i say damn! that party is over.

we eventually got a small table a bit later in the show, but im trying to avoid that whole shit.

we shoulda booked that other couple, because they (at least the lady) knew how to make it happen. im trying to find another couple like that.
12886147, How is it corny?

12886236, i hate planning. and it's a way too democratic process.
Posted by Kwesi, Mon Aug-24-15 01:14 PM
either one of the woman in one of the couples is demanding a plan or itinerary for the whole night.
or one of the niggas is corny or painfully shy.
or one of the couples is in the middle of some juicy argument and they trying to act normal.
or one of the women would rather it just be the 'two of them.'
sometimes, it's all too much.

but when done right, and it just happens, and everybody can get along and share jokes. it's very cool.
12886199, I'll be there already
Posted by Tw3nty, Mon Aug-24-15 12:37 PM
12886230, in a booth or general admission?
Posted by Kwesi, Mon Aug-24-15 01:10 PM
12886201, you don't want to be around me? *Sad face emojii*

12886229, you stood me up for twin sister! you got a date?
Posted by Kwesi, Mon Aug-24-15 01:10 PM
she can't be you-know-what.
12886267, i should be there
Posted by MrThomas43423, Mon Aug-24-15 01:45 PM
not really going with a date as of right now, but you never fucking know. that's my birthday week so i've told a bunch of folks and it might be kind of a mini party. it might be smart to just get a table hunh? i didn't even think about that.
---------------------------------------
it's true what they say...people are strange, when you're strangers.

not compassionate....only polite.

I am not like you at all and i cannot pretend.
12886277, i think the table is the move.
Posted by Kwesi, Mon Aug-24-15 01:50 PM
not having a table, and getting there early is the fastest way to being blown for the night.
12886269, Is general admission that terrible?
Posted by PimpTrickGangstaClik, Mon Aug-24-15 01:46 PM
12886279, if you get there late, yeah.
Posted by Kwesi, Mon Aug-24-15 01:52 PM
after all the railing seats, and benches, and booths are taken.

there's only standing space between the bars and last row of people.

and the standing space doesn't give you a good view of anything, and there's absolutely no place to lean and watch while you listen.

... but that reasoning is for couples. ladies aint trying to stand all day in the heels, and they kinda want to relax and sit after a while. maybe even eat.

as a single guy, though - you can do whatever, however you want.

introduce yourself to a table of ladies, or bumrush your way to the front, or just float through the whole thing. if no one bites, that'll get lonely and old - real quick.
