New York isn't some magical place that makes you better than the rest of the country. The homeless dude is New York city has better living conditions elsewhere because THE RENT IS TOO DAMN HIGH. It's possible to see where this perspective comes from through cost of living and competition for jobs. However, why would someone want to put themselves under that much pressure? If 50K gives me a better life in Atlanta, Minneapolis, Portland, or Detroit then why go through the headache of moving to NY to make it?

LOL at people rating NY higher in order to justify cost of living and competition for careers.
