Aretha Franklin - Don't Let Me Lose This Dream (With Lyrics): http://youtu.be/PwOFlnHanqg

Note: I am not saying amy was as good of a singer as aretha.
I just think she'd do this cover well.
12725818, yeah

This is closer to how I do things -- lounge singer style of songs, sometimes rap songs. lol.
12725827, i liked that one.

12725830, LOL. Not 'Sweet Child o' Mine'. New Orleans style.

12725914, if you like these you can look this group on on Spotify.
Posted by PROMO, Thu Feb-12-15 12:28 PM
they have like 15 albums worth of these types of covers.

12725915, I'd always wanted to hear Amy cover "My Favorite Mistake" (Sheryl Crow)...
Posted by aScribe, Thu Feb-12-15 12:29 PM
I think she'd have killed it.

Melancholy mood? Check.

Failed relationship subject matter? Check.

Soulful pop melody? Check.

Ideally, I'd have wanted to hear Amy's cover produced more closer to Sheryl's version (rock aesthetic/electric guitar) than Amy's traditional 60's sound. Only 'cause I've wanted to hear Amy outside of her traditional element and thought she'd be dope over a grungier rock sound. Even an acoustic cover with just electric guitar.
12725935, I can get with this.
Posted by Sepia., Thu Feb-12-15 12:44 PM
Definitely go the grungier rock sound.
12725943, Yeah, IMO, I think it'd have been dope...
Posted by aScribe, Thu Feb-12-15 12:52 PM
>Definitely go the grungier rock sound. Maybe that 70s soul
>rock sound?

Definitely. And now I'm sad, 'cause Amy was an artist I'd have loved to see/hear go in different directions as her career progressed. And being influenced by jazz and soul, it'd have been cool to hear her explore other sound aesthetics within those genres.

And although her vocal was (obvioulsy) heavily influenced by jazz, she always delivered a purposefully...distorted?...slurred?... vocal style that I think would have married well with a grungier sound.
12725934, This way better than Iggy's Fancy
