If it's good they gotta nominate it. Especially with the backlash that happened this year.

If it's basura then yea, let the shit be
12722928, Problem is that they may still get backlash.

You already know there are gonna be Black folks that are gonna be like "oh, them devils at the Academy can nominate movies with niggas being ignorant but they'll skip over something important in our history like Selma."

12722170, annnnd here come the insults. look, dude, let me make it simple
Posted by lazyboi, Mon Feb-09-15 12:03 PM
white jewish business man gets rich off several black kids (who wore satin and made jokey raps) by telling them to act like a gang and scream "murder n*ggas and black b*tches".

sorry, i can't clap to that.

u can..and that's cool. no need to insult me cause i saw what they did as self destructing *shrug *

"If you wanna help us, fine. Sit down with your kids and make 'em study at night...otherwise, shoot THIS mothaf*cka!" (c) Morgan Freeman,
12722181, okay, you finally told us why you mad.
Posted by SoWhat, Mon Feb-09-15 12:07 PM
b/c it was clear you mad but it wasn't clear why.

and you're projecting your mad on others who you claim are mad that you have exposed NWA as frauds. as if those who you think you've educated aren't aware of whatever info you think you just introduced for the first time. LOL

and as for Ross...unless the ppl you're talking to/about (whoever they are) have specifically decried Ross's fakery but have expressed no problem w/NWA's (as you see it) it doesn't make sense for you rant at them about their rejection of Ross and acceptance of NWA.

12722188, hold on...jerry heller didnt tell them to rap abt that subject matter
Posted by Binlahab, Mon Feb-09-15 12:08 PM
they looked around & saw that subject matter in their day to day hence the term reality rap

you & i are roughly the same age, meaning you grew up during the crack era...that shit wasnt cool or normal @ all but if you were riding your lil 10 speed around & seeing shit, you DID see drug dealers, & dope fiends & hoes & police & all that shit.

does it really matter?

wonder what bin's doing?
http://i.imgur.com/phECCMp.jpg
12722191, my point is what would make them "real" in ur eyes?
Posted by thegodcam, Mon Feb-09-15 12:10 PM
or better yet, which rapper is real in ur eyes? was P.E. fake cause they were talkin this pro-blk ish yet had a crackhead as hypeman and S1W's were fuckin she-devils on tour?

callin rappers fake cuz they aint "livin" their lyrics, seems a lil juvenile imho...
12723147, how about beating up a man when they are pissed instead of a woman
Posted by lazyboi, Tue Feb-10-15 10:50 AM
i mean we can START with that.

"If you wanna help us, fine. Sit down with your kids and make 'em study at night...otherwise, shoot THIS mothaf*cka!" (c) Morgan Freeman,
12723228, if a rapper hits a woman, he's fake?
Posted by thegodcam, Tue Feb-10-15 11:37 AM
especially a rapper who is known for misogynistic lyrics?

I think ur misusing the word fake.... perhaps u meant immoral or has mores and values u highly dislike...
12723250, 1. he didn't hit her, he chased, drug, and beat the living hell out of her

Posted by lazyboi, Tue Feb-10-15 11:47 AM
u sposed to be a gangsta and dangerous. u don't lay a finger on the man that said it...but instead u got beat up a woman....and your crew backs u up. yeah. u a fake ass tough guy...and they are too

But, let's keep in historically accurate: Bobby Jimmy and the Critters were a part of NWA according to that first album: "NWA and the Posse".

If you are going to hold NWA to this higher standard then everybody from EPMD to Big Daddy Kane were studio gangsters who didn't do everything they said they did. It doesnt matter.

I wonder who will make cameos: Suge? World Class Wreckin Cru? are they gonna show Dre & Yella wearing skin tight sequins? the fact that Fuck The Police was inspired by BB guns? the break up? The Dee Barnes beatdown?

I know it's 25 years later and Cube and Dre have made peace like grown men. Eazy is dead and where's Ren and Yella nowadays? but a lot of foul shit went down and it'd be a shame if they glossed it over

i'm guessing they'll throw the diss tracks in there since they have to cover the animosity, but so much shit will be glossed over, or left out, because there's only so much you can cram into 2 hours.

...of their story. I mean, I agree that they were right about Jerry Heller, but I believe that for the most part this is going to be the sanitized as Hell version of the story, beyond the naked chicks at their pool parties.

At least they cast people to play Ren and Yella, though it looks like Arabian Prince didn't make the cut. It appears that The D.O.C. and DJ Speed did tho, so that's encouraging. However, I hope Snoop and Suge aren't a huge part of the story.

Posted by Nick Has a Problem...Seriously, Mon Feb-09-15 10:01 PM
Why couldn't they make it happen?
12722872, and Ren still gets no shine

SMH. Still looking forward to this.
12722877, he was arguably the best rapper of the group
Posted by lazyboi, Mon Feb-09-15 10:18 PM
and to me after cube left, he was. but he seemed to be the least successful after the split.

yella had a career in pornography lol

i've always been a fan of mcren, but there was never any question regarding the best mc in nwa.

its cube, and its not even close.

12722968, lol y'all just wanna disagree. re read what i said

after cube left he was the best rapper
while cube was there, it was an argument...at least people i know and me. that he or cube were the best rappers line for line in the group.

..i'm not much for comparison, but this isn't even close.

ren had that ill vibe that let you know he was all about business.

no thrills, no frills.

cool.

but cube was the voice of nwa, flat out.

when cube bounced, the d.o.c. was the lyricist of the crew. even though he wasn't a founding member, he was all over the writing credits.

Ren wrote his on shit though with the exception of "Alwayz Into Somethin'" I remember DOC saying he wrote that whole song. He mainly wrote for Dre and Eazy. Ren even did some writing for Eazy.
12723041, reading is fundamental...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Tue Feb-10-15 09:38 AM
..no one claimed ren didn't write.

they all contributed to songs, but cube, ren, and the d.o.c. wrote the lion's share of nwa's classics.

when you put cube & ren's best efforts head to head, its not even close.

and I read what you said. Ren was no slouch even when Cube was there. I know more than a few who preferred him over Cube. Not me of course but just admit you don't respect Ren much as a lyricist and KIM. He was killin' it while Cube was there and he was THE emcee hands down when Cube left. We all know how great The DOC is. No need to slight Ren though.
12723112, thanks for your input, keep it movin'.

12723121, right. Cy's acting like Cube was lyrically head&shoulders above Ren
Posted by lazyboi, Tue Feb-10-15 10:34 AM
while Cube was in the group. Like Ren was nowhere close. Cats I knew that were into lyrics preferred Ren

12723131, nah b, I've said it here myself: Ren was the best MC of NWA
Posted by PoppaGeorge, Tue Feb-10-15 10:41 AM
pertaining to straight skills anyways. Cube and Eazy's voices were more recognizable, but Ren was the better lyricist. (DOC was hands down the best lyricist on Ruthless, but he wasn't a member of NWA proper).

This isn't about shitting on the left coast, I feel the same about Puff on this side.

And the timing of this shit coming out...right when we have gone through period of unrest that have the general public waking up... this shit is going to be plastered all over the radio and on walls in cities this coming summer.

12723058, I have zero interest in this thing
Posted by Garhart Poppwell, Tue Feb-10-15 09:48 AM
And I fully expect it to be a Dre's/Cube's side of the story type of deal.
But I can see Paul Giamatti getting a supporting actor Oscar nod for playing Heller.
