my nurse didnt believe me. got tested and dont have the antibodies.
all these anti-vaxers not vaxing their kids got me scared so i just did it.
12702554, yeah but not as a child
Posted by blackrussian, Mon Jan-19-15 06:49 PM
i got it when i was 17 :(
12702562, Yup...missed my Kindergarten graduation...I had a speech too.
Posted by Lardlad95, Mon Jan-19-15 07:01 PM
My brother had it about a week before and he kept trying to wrestle me...got that shit two days before the ceremony.

All I remember is watching a Rocky marathon, eating chicken soup, and being delirious off of medicine. I wish I had a high that good gain...I watched Jack Hannah's nature hour and saw a new color that I can only describe as molten gray.

It's a shame kids won't get to experience that type of sickness anymore.

*Sigh*

12702689, Got it when I was 10. It was bad too
Posted by spenzalii, Mon Jan-19-15 10:49 PM
Doctor said it was one of the worst cases of pox he had seen. Those bumps were everywhere - between my fingers, between my toes, on my eyelids, everywhere.
12702769, My boy got it in college. We were about 20. We clowned him for weeks. n/m

Posted by SoWhat, Tue Jan-20-15 12:43 PM
12702802, if you don't get em as a kid it's WAY WORSE
Posted by teefiveten, Tue Jan-20-15 09:36 AM

i had it around 4/5. i barely remember it.
12702811, 2nd grade...i infected my entire fam cept my mother
Posted by ambient1, Tue Jan-20-15 09:40 AM
12702812, i don't think there was a vaccine when i was a kid.
Posted by SoWhat, Tue Jan-20-15 09:41 AM
http://www.historyofvaccines.org/content/articles/chickenpox-varicella

"Available Vaccines and Vaccination Campaigns

The chickenpox vaccine was added to the childhood immunization schedule in 1995. The booster dose was added in 2006."

^^^ there's a vaccine now so maybe that's why we're seeing adults who've never had c/p.

when i was a kid it seemed most kids dealt w/c-p at some point during childhood. and some parents would even purposefully expose their kids to it so they could 'get it over with'.
12702823, yep. 5th grade i think. i used a hair brush to scratch. felt soo good too.
Posted by earthseed, Tue Jan-20-15 09:53 AM
no lasting scars either, lol.
12702856, I don't remember having ever had it, nor do my parents buuut
Posted by napturalmystic, Tue Jan-20-15 10:15 AM
I have antibodies for varicella so I've had it. It was probably mild. Everyone in my house had it at one point except me and my older sister.
12702865, I got it at 15 and it was really bad. I had 'em on my doodad ©Coach
Posted by placee_22, Tue Jan-20-15 10:18 AM
I was out of school for 3 weeks.
12702880, Yep, 3 times
Posted by Garhart Poppwell, Tue Jan-20-15 10:25 AM
5, 8 and 1o. The last time I didn't hurt or itch from it at all, but the bumps were everywhere. Stayed out of school for a little over a week and my mom didn't let me out of my room to do anything but wash and avail myself of the restroom.
12703051, WOW.. That's Crazy

I couldn't go to school as long as I had the bumps, so it was just Nintendo and cereal until they went away. Didn't itch in the bed or anything, easily the best sick experience I've ever had.
12702883, nope! but i've had measles before as a kid
Posted by queenie, Tue Jan-20-15 10:27 AM

It's plenty of money to be made
from Candler Road to Bankhead
It's plenty of room to get paid
for those that ain't scared
12702911, Got them twice if I remember correctly
Posted by BabySoulRebel, Tue Jan-20-15 10:40 AM
1st and 3rd grade
12702927, I got it in college, and gave it to some cats in the dorm
Posted by bigkarma, Tue Jan-20-15 10:50 AM
I evidently caught it during the Xmas break and it didn't reveal itself until I returned to school. I was quarantined in my room and friends who had already had it brought me meals and class notes...etc.

So, 25 years later...

...sorry Paddyfoote Hall.

Funny thing is there was this one dude who I gave to, who sold weed, that said fuck it and kept doing business with full blown chicken pox. So I may have been patient zero, but if anybody else caught it, I blame that dude.

My hubby didn't. So if/when my lil girl gets it, he has to leave the house.
12703050, do kids still get c/p? there's a vaccine now.
Posted by SoWhat, Tue Jan-20-15 12:27 PM
12703491, are you gonna vax your lil girl? or yourselves?
Posted by gusto, Tue Jan-20-15 05:19 PM
