It was one of my first summers in NYC and I was walking to my dudes house on the Eastern Parkway for the West Indian Labor Day Parade. I was carrying a gang of liquor with me in a box and a white cop stopped me. He said I couldn't have open liquor out for the Parade. I said I didn't have open liquor, they were bottles with the lid on them and I was transporting them to my friends house were we were going to drink the liquor there. I had like a year of law school under my belt so I was fiesty and really getting into it with the white cop when this sister cop intervened. She said to the white cop, "look I will walk him to his friends house to make sure there he isn't out here drinking on the street".

She walked me to my friends house and we shot the shit for a bit. She was very friendly.

Fast forward some time later I was out at the club and this very cute high yella girl with freckles runs up on me and is like "oohh, I remember you from the West Indian Parade!" It was my lady cop. Turns out she quit the force to go to law school. For whatever reason I didn't get her number or anything like that and have never seen her again.

It took me some time to realized she kept my butt from getting arrested that day. I've always wanted to find her and thank her.
