I don't even know what's IN a mint Julep, he could have handed me some colt 45 with a candy cane in it and I wouldn't have known the difference

they had a good bourbon selection so I figured they would know how to make one.
I ended up with a drink that was basically a bourbon and soda with an orange slice. No cherry. Not sure that it had bitters.
In fairness it was at a restaurant bar, not a 'bar bar', but still.

She looked at me like she had no clue what the fuck I was talking about.
Maybe I'm fucking up the exact region she's from, but I'm certain she's from Great Britain.
Not only did I have to explain that it was a Scotch, I had to direct her to the Scotch section of the shelf and then to the specific bottle of scotch I wanted.
I really hope she was drunk or just fucking with me.

if it's a regular bar i just ask for a simple drink or something neat (though asking for a macallan neat and her not knowing it-UK or not-is just deplorable. you should know what bottles are in your bar and it's not like macallan is some rare shit)
i save my cocktail requests for bars known to throw down a good drink
