The problem as I see it is that the efforts of the civil rights generation has been squandered and their trials and tribulations are now trivialized and the things you're pointing to are a DIRECT RESULT of that trivialization. A very current example is Marijuana legalization. 10 years ago, unheard of. While I was in school NORML was every where organizing doing the hard work necessary and today MJ is going mainstream, mostly due to the ballot box. Never once did I hear a pro-legalize MJ person say voting doesn't matter.
