12543059, LA Okayplayers...I need food/lounge/bar suggestions. Posted by Starbaby Jones, Wed Aug-13-14 01:06 PM
So, my job transfer went through and I secured a loft in San Pedro. I'll be moving at the beginning of September, but I don't know much about that area. So, I'm looking for suggestions/insights on my new hood. What you know good?

I just didn't want to move all the way to Orange County.

Eeeshh... I don't venture below the 10 (racist like that).. I'm sure Rtistic can chime in
I think there are some cool spots in Long Beach though.. Homie lives down there and he says there is a growing bar scene...
Downtown LB and bixby knolls I think

12543163, You need to be checking out Long Beach. Posted by spades, Wed Aug-13-14 01:57 PM
That's the closest thing to you in San Pedro. You're about a 35 minute (traffic free) drive from Downtown LA. Long Beach is a college town, so depending on your age you'll be just fine or miserable. Check out Downtown Long Beach - there's lots of bars/restaurants, etc.

12543251, I'm early 30s. So, I'm not getting blind drunk anymore. Posted by Starbaby Jones, Wed Aug-13-14 02:30 PM
I'm just trying to keep it low key. I'll definitely be checking out Long Beach b/c of proximity. However, my best mate is in Santa Monica. So, I know half the time I'll be trekking up to her. She's pretty much a newbie as well. So, I'm not limited to that area.
|
12543452, Santa Monica's AWESOME. Longo is up there too, hit him up Posted by spades, Wed Aug-13-14 04:26 PM
Just resign yourself to an hour commute tho.
Oh and the College is closer to Bixby than actual Long Beach - Downtown Long beach is much classier, or at least was when I was there.
You'll be alright.

12543166, San Pedro nightlife = Downtown Long Beach Posted by -DJ R-Tistic-, Wed Aug-13-14 01:58 PM
But it is maybe 35-40 minutes from Downtown L.A. It's actually the easiest straight shot ever down the 110, and that makes it 45-50 min from Hollywood. But DT Long Beach, the Pike area, caters more to you.

12543250, san pedro is a weird area Posted by Selah, Wed Aug-13-14 02:30 PM
as stated, if you're looking for "nightlife" your closest bet is probably in LB
but truth be told the coastal in San Pedro/PV has some of the nicest views in all LA
BUNCH of dope places for picnics/small cookouts and that type of hangout
back to your question, again as stated, the proximity to the 110 pretty much allows you to get places to hang out easily

I worked an event for one of the big investment firms there, I want to say Goldman Sachs
EASILY one of the top 5 nicest places I've ever been.

I did some of my service at the Naval/CG base out there.
