i think if fictional gay characters tend to be played effeminate it's b/c that's what the audience expects. i think if gay guys on reality tv are often effeminate it's b/c the producers want the more flamboyant characters b/c they feel those characters have potential to be explosive.

i don't think there's any conspiracy out there to portray gay men a certain way.
