12419359, My iphone was stolen, findmyphone shows me exactly where it is
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Mon Apr-21-14 10:13 AM
My wife was at an information counter asking questions at this mall. 15 minutes later she realized she left her phone at the counter. We go back and the lady delivers the most shady "haven't seen it".

Two hours later findmyphone app shows that the phone is straight chilling at someones crib 20 minutes away from the mall. I call the cops, they can't be bothered.

Do I have any moves left or is this over?

I was hoping they ride over there and ask. Heck make a phone call.

It would have been nice, not surprised they didn't.

my friend had a similar story and the cops did go knock on the door.

It wasn't just the phone, it was my wife's wallet.

police respond faster when weapons are involved.

when they get there, you can always say i thought it was a gun maybe it wasn't.

they'll understand.

Not really sure how that works in your scenario tho...

From the first time in 2004, to the last time in 2014, you would think I just tweeted my info everyday. I got a call from a detective in CA after they caught a dude just walking around with credit cards in my name. I haven't been to CA since '01.
12419385, mightve* solved it if you got the manager to review the security footage

I have a screen shot showing the phone to be at someone's house at an exact time. That's plenty of evidence.

file a report w/the police. file a claim w/insurance. wipe the phone. keep living.

also consider: ATT sells refurbished iPhones for $99 - especially w/an upgrade. if you're missing a 4 you're probably due for an upgrade.

let go and let God.

Read the OP again. I said I called the local police, they blew it off and I asked if there is anything else left to do or is it a wrap.

Where did I ring the alarm?

the screenshot has investigative value but if the cops show up there and tell them that the phone has been located at this address, if the person there says that they have no idea what they are talking about, it's pretty much over.

I mean I guess you can try and get a warrant based on the findmyphone app screenshot, but who would go through all that effort for a phone that they would probably toss after a police visit.

while i get YOUR point, it's just a hassle having to get a new phone, set it up (especially if you didn't back it up recently), and putting everything back on it.

like contacts alone drain the hell out of me. When I had to get my new iphone, the last backup (which was a week before i went to get my phone), was cool but then i realized all my apps, pics, and certain settings didn't save for some reason. man that whole hassle of fixing made me wish i hadn't even bought a new phone.

Idk how iphones work when it comes to that kind of stuff, but if so just erase everything off of it and file a claim. If not get what you can off of it while its still on and then erase it.

Some kid like a block away from me got my phone. I harassed the shit outta him...I knew I wasn't gonna get it back but fuck it I was mad lol

The last call he made on my phone was to the water ice stand around the corner. I talked to the guy that owned it and come to find out the boy was trying to get a job there. I deaded that and fussed at him some more for fucking up a job .

in a store and somebody scooped it so we tracked it down
in the store and kept calling it

She thought she kept noticin this one shady cat
go to his pocket and silence it from vibrating
every time we called

I peeped the shit, and buddy was makin some shady
ass moves so I just straight up told him I think you might
have my girls phone

Shit was hella awkward/tense, but it was one of them
man up or look like a bitch situations

I had to pretty much ask this big ass nigga to run his
pockets, and she still aint believe buddy didnt have the phone

In retrospect, I was surprised he aint buck, bc I woulda felt
tried my damn self

In this situation youre in tho, I dont see a reason
to go rogue and pop up at a nigga crib and shit
bc that level of disrespect might deserve a slap
just off GP

Forget the cops/filing a report and all the extra shit

Take your loss and replace the phone and get it over with

...i can't remember if it was an ipad or iphone....but my dude said his daughter got jacked by some other lil girls at her school for the phone, which he'd JUST bought her.....he said he went over there with his pistol after tracking the phone, the the other girl claimed she didn't have it...he got the police involved, but they said there wasn't much they could do...sooo....because the phone is originally worth over a certain amount, the alleged theft of said property could be considered a higher crime and he threatened to sue the fam for the loss of the phone...they caved at that threat and the other lil girl eneded up admitting she had the phone all along...

...but if you don't even wanna go to the police....where do folks live where the nearest police station is 2 hours away?? but ok...

I will have a new phone tomorrow.

Called the cops. They didn't care.
Call the mall. They said that the person working the information desk doesn't live where I said the phone was found.

I got names with the address from internet search, but no phone number.

It's donesky.

What I really wanted more than anything was to reach out to this person and say, I know what you did fucker.

I am thinking I will make the message displayed on the phone to say "this phone has been traced back to (the address I found), the police have been alerted. In order to avoid prosecution please call...."

For what? To fuck with the person who stole my phone. If I can put some fear in their heart than I would feel better about it all.

I will get a new phone but If I find my old phone and return it then I get my $200 deductable back.

I think it's pointless to scream on the police or the managers because it probably won't result in anything. It's 2 hours away so going there or trying to send some over there is just doing waay too much in my opinion.

12471847, it shoulda been a teddy bear instead of an iphone:
Posted by chi_soul, Fri Jun-06-14 08:30 AM
http://onlineathens.com/local-news/2014-06-04/gps-teddy-bear-leads-athens-police-thief

A GPS device hidden inside a teddy bear on Tuesday led police to a thief.
Athens-Clarke County police said that Mid-Atlantic Clothing Recycling had recently been experiencing thefts of clothing from its collection bin at Georgia Square Mall.
To combat the thefts, a company manager concealed a GPS device inside a teddy bear and he placed it in a bag of clothing that was then tossed into the collection bin, according to police.
At about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, the manager called police to report that the teddy bear was on the move, headed toward Timothy Road.
An officer in the area was responding to the call, police said, when the Mid-Atlantic manager updated the stuffed animal’s location — at the Clarke Crossing shopping center at Timothy Road and Atlanta Highway.
When the officer got there he found a man removing bags from a car and placing them into a donation bin, police said.
Melvin Junior Wilder explained that he was donating clothing that had been left over from a flea market sale, according to police.
When asked about a bag in the car’s backseat that contained clothing and a teddy bear, Wilder told the officer that the items had come from his home, police said.
The officer removed the GPS device from the teddy bear and showed it to Wilder, at which time he confessed to stealing the clothing from Georgia Square Mall.
The Mid-Atlantic manager said that the clothing was valued at $1 per pound, so the clothing Wilder had taken was worth $40, according to police.
The 55-year-old Burkland Lane resident was charged with misdemeanor theft by taking and released from custody later Tuesday morning after posting a $1,500 bond.

anyway we rolled up to the map location, a group of guys holding down a corner. typical fare

one guy was using the phone

we hopped out the whip, rolled on up, ol girl (by the way who is all of like 4'11" and iono 95 pounds) piped up like 'um excuse me sir i think you have my phone'

ev.er.y.one. stopped

like one of those movie freeze scenes

he had some story about how he bought it from a crackhead and wanted $50 for it

we didn't budge

our united colors of benetton go team was strong with the force lol

he gave it up

when we got back to the office our ED was freaked the fuck out we did that

looong set up, but the basics are this:

Went out, got SMASHED, woke up on my boy's couch sick, went to urgent care, got fluids and prescription, went to Wal-Mart to fill it, left my phone in the bathroom.

Next scene - FindMyPhone pinpoints the exact crib. I call the cops. They come out to where I am but don't wanna get involved.

So I go up to the crib. Solo. I put the burner in my pocket but I let the handle stick out so its clear that shits not a game.

Parked the whip a few houses down in case I gotta run. Knock on the door, short Mexican dude comes out. "I don't want no problems, just want my phone." I don't even think dude spoke english but he understood. Retrieved my shit and I bounced.

Probably my dumbest moment.
12970299, Umm, my phone got stolen...again.
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Tue Feb-09-16 09:33 AM
This time it was an android phone and I was able to follow everything. Dude leaving the club I was at. The girls crib he went to after the club at 4AM (it's remarkably easy to find who lives at an exact address). Then dude left the girls crib around 11:00AM, went to the grocery store and then went to his home in Rockville.

Dude lives at the home with his grandmother, his grandfather died in 2010 and dude just got arrested for possession of weed in January.

This time cops said they will meet me at the house and go in. Only problem is I am in NYC and this happened in DC.

I wouldn't sweat it if it were just the phone but dude stole my jacket which had my house keys and car keys. Car keys alone are 350 to replace.

I've got to make a special trip back to rockville. SMH.

Phones aint for you man lol
12970804, lol, reminds me of a boho chick I seen at Target
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Feb-09-16 08:08 PM
I was waiting for my wife to use the bathroom and a boho chick walks out with a sad face and actually said "wahhhh" like a baby.

My wife comes out and says some stupid girl in the stall next to her was on the phone talking loud as shit and dropped her phone and cracked the screen. She picks it up while crying and screamed she cracked her phone screen AGAIN and she should probably get a case for it.

some people aren't meant to own phones
12970875, I called dude up. He says he is mailing me my phone.
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Tue Feb-09-16 10:02 PM
I called his house first and got his grandma. We chopped it up for a bit. His grandma said he would call me right back. Which he did.

We spoke and I ran down all the info I had on him. Address, Peoples names, where he was that night, his arrest record.

He said he would mail me the phone the next day. We will see.

Still mad because he claimed to know nothing about my keys.

12971127, What about your jacket, bro?
Posted by flipnile, Wed Feb-10-16 11:59 AM
12971518, It was 60 buck H&M jacket from two season ago.
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Wed Feb-10-16 04:49 PM
I can replace that.

In fact I could have lived without the phone which was insured.

The keys were the killer part. Car key can set me back $350. The house keys had all these keys from different places that will take forever to replace.

Dude said he didn't know nothing about the jacket or keys and just found the phone on the floor.

If he sends back the phone I am thinking I can then hit him with the "you know you done fcuked up and given me evidence that you stole my ish. NOW WHERE ARE THE KEYS DIRTBAG!?!??"

Something like that.
