i would say that commercial radio + morals/ethics doesn't and haven't ever mixed. they are all about their bottom line. period. they do what they do based on that...if people complain about cursing, they limit it etc.

with that said, the listener ultimately should decide to either turn the radio on or off depending on what's on...whether its because they don't like the content of the song itself, or simply want to hear different music

if we're assuming adults are the consumer, adults should be able to hear whatever/whenever.

if there are not adults around to monitor what kids are listening to or adults choose not, that's not the radio stations responsibility to police.
