but I'm glad it was. I think Kendrick's popularity is rooted in his populism. he's always been like the "people's choice", and though he had industry backing (the largest co-sign of them all), he didn't really switch his style up because he had Dre/Interscope over him
he's a Wayne/Outkast disciple who likes listening to playery and LA hometown music sometimes. as true today as it was in 2008.
