he wasn't pressed for money. he's just a notoriously cheap dude who will save a dollar at any cost.
had just gotten divorced and was trying to buy a house and refused to rent or stay with anyone in the meantime.
dude was proud as hell talking about 99 cent store meals, and coolers and finding places to shower.
whatever makes you happy i guess, but he's never been all there.
