in the Denzel clip was ready to laugh and see the humor already when the clip began, and in the JEJ clip that definitely wasn't the case. It could be because the entire production was directed and/or acted differently, or it could have just been that the audience had different people from a different age group that didn't see the subject matter as serious, maybe because they were much further removed from the time period of the setting.
Whatever the reason, you can't tell from just looking at these clips in a vacuum.
