I suppose ultimately it's her decision as to what she want to do, but she was very cold in how she dealt with them in terms of how handling her cancer. Betty almost literally gave Sally the cold shoulder when she walked past her in that kitchen scene. Heartbreaking stuff all around, especially in regards to Betty's letter to Sally.
