you guys will complain about ANYTHING and EVERYTHING.
the fact that you didn't even notice the discrepancy just proves it wasn't a crucial detail to the story.
its likely the writers want you to guess if Dexter actually injected himself with the real thing or not. more than likely he had 2 needles. who knows? might be revealed when the release the S7 dvd in the extras part.
