I was in agreement with you to an extant through the first couple episodes with him but by Episode 9 (warehouse fight) it all sort of came together for me. Here's a man who really believed he could play both sides of the fence and be an altruistic man at the head of a criminal enterprise. It led him to be very careful with his words, in order too suppress what he'd prefer to say instead. Which might sound a little something like his fist hitting your skull rather than anything verbal.
