the academy shouldn't reward less worthy performances. but they should do what they did this year with a heavy favorite like the social network: take a step back and ask if this really is the unanimous best movie/performance or if it just won a few big awards early in the season and then sat back as the rest of the awards shows fell dutifully into line. there were several films this year that were as good as or better than the social network. the king's speech was one of them. that's how the academy should do upsets.
