95085, I am kinda surprised at all the Babel love. Posted by Ryan M, Tue Jan-23-07 10:55 AM
I mean I know that it won the Golden Globe. But everyone I know who liked it just thought it was alright...nobody said it was amazing. I personally hated it, but whatever. It works as an Oscar flick, I guess. Great acting though.
I try to make it a point to see all the major nominees. Looks like I've got a lot to sift through this year. I love that...it seems like, aside from The Departed, Babel, and Dreamgirls, there is a ton of parity in the awards this year. I guess here are my picks with what I've seen right now:
Best Pic: The Departed Actor: I haven't seen any of them, but I agree with Zoo - Peter O Toole Actress: Helen Mirren (haven't seen it, but c'mon...it's hers to lose) S. Actor: I'd love to see Alan Arkin or Mark Wahlberg get it, but it's probably Eddie Murphys. S. Actress: It's Jennifer Hudson's. Directing: Martin Scorsese Original Screenplay: Little Miss Sunshine (they've gotta give them something) Adapted Screenplay: The Departed Cinematography: Emmanuel Lubezki - Children of Men Editing: Douglas Crise, Stephen Mirrione - Babel Art Direction: John Myhre, Nancy Haigh - Dreamgirls Costume Design: Sharen Davis - Dreamgirls Animated Feature: MONSTER HOUSE, BITCH!!!
