I ain't got the numbers in front of me, that's Frank Longo's job (whose reply I've yet to read), but I'm pleased with this year's lattes.
There was a wide range of films discussed, in pretty much every genre.
Films whose major releases were weak (TAKE SHELTER, MELANCHOLIA, A DANGEROUS METHOD) were not only recognized by the PTP community, but heavily debated. There wasn't one film (INCEPTION, THERE WILL BE BLOOD) that everybody clinged to; which you could argue is because either: there wasn't one worth clinging to, or because cats made up their own minds (I want to believe the latter).
This was definitely a weak year for film, and Frank Longo's pick for best film may be wrong (JOKES!), but I'm pleased with the Lattes this year.
