138623, This is why I'm still holding out on Deangelo's return...

Now I believe things are starting to get in motion as far as his return...or so it seems.
138624, Your faith is so cute.

138625, right
Posted by astralblak, Fri Jun-11-10 02:37 PM
whether you believe he's demi-god status, hack, or sumwhere inbetween, the boy is lost and we don't need to be waiting on his return
138626, yeah and as soon as he drops a record, you and the other poster
Posted by vee-lover, Fri Jun-11-10 02:42 PM
will be the 1st in line to cop his CD.

You're just jaded because we've heard talk of a record coming down the pipeline for some time now and nothing happened but I believe within a year he will release a full length studio CD. Just like Dre has been stalling on Detox forever and some people gave up on him ever putting the record out but now it appears the record is pretty much finished and soon to be released.
138627, Not me.
Posted by Orfeo_Negro, Fri Jun-11-10 02:45 PM
138628, would you get it if
Posted by Shaun_G, Fri Jun-11-10 03:06 PM
you heard it was good, listened to it and actually liked it?

I know you've given up on him, but what if the album is actually good?

Shaun G. --- not expecting to see an album from him either but still...
138629, Possibly.
Posted by Orfeo_Negro, Fri Jun-11-10 03:09 PM
It's just that I'm really not even that much into his kind of music anymore (or at least the kind of music that has been associated with him up until now). I'm just not interested in D'Angelo as an artist at this point.
138630, of course he would. Why wouldn't he? People saying they aren't
Posted by vee-lover, Fri Jun-11-10 03:11 PM
waiting on his record are only saying so because that's their safeguard against disappointment.
138631, Dr.Dre>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>D'angelo
Posted by , Fri Jun-11-10 03:12 PM
impact

songs

production

that ain't far to D'angelo because when you talk about Dr.Dre you are talking about arguably the Greatest Producer that the style has known whereas D'angelo coming back with a album is a oh well.

please don't compare Dr.Dre's album comeback with D'angelo because they mean different things.
138632, you took this into another whole lane...
Posted by vee-lover, Fri Jun-11-10 03:30 PM
No one is comparing who has had more impact or who makes better songs. The point was that just because artist seem to take forever releasing a record, much to the chagrin of an ever consuming fan base, and people decide to give up on them ever releasing something, doesn't mean that it won't happen, just not on our timetable.

Maybe the "buzz" for a D record lacks the anticipation of a Dre record and maybe to some D failed to strike the proverbial "iron" while it was hot but for people like myself who starve for real music, I couldn't care less about what kind of impact he's making on the next person.

138633, outside of the die hards here and a few folks scattered
Posted by , Fri Jun-11-10 04:02 PM
in areas,etc.. ain't nobody losing sleep over a D'angelo record. if this was 2002 to 2006 then perhaps but after that naw. he ain't that good to be away no decade.

dr dre takes a long time but again he is mainly a producer who did his thing back at a time when an album was a main event. those days are long ago gone.not soley based on technilogy but the lack of a real must have thing.
138634, I'm willing to bet that when D does drop a record, it will do good numbers
Posted by vee-lover, Fri Jun-11-10 04:20 PM
especially {if it's dope} which is really all that matters to get your name on the tongues of people again. Also, the fact that the R&B landscape is quite barren at the moment, I don't think he'll have any problem finding his footing in the music scene once again, just as Maxwell was able to after also being MIA for awhile.

And lastly, according to the article I posted, if he's really about to get his "How does it feel" body back then that in itself will attract the female audience who buy more CDs anyway.

138635, good to great music and less on the gimmicks
Posted by , Fri Jun-11-10 05:02 PM
would do him much justice. he has a base of fans however folks have lost interest in waiting on a cat who fell off and got more promises than he can keep.

all he needs is some strong songs and to stay focus on the job at hand. work out and do things he wants to and not for appeal sake because that is all so shallow.
138636, well if you read the article you noticed where his trainer said this time
Posted by vee-lover, Fri Jun-11-10 05:16 PM
he's gearing his training towards more of a lifestyle instead of how it will translate into record sales only.

138637, you both are funny
Posted by , Fri Jun-11-10 07:19 PM
because image is everything and dude is trying to sell records no matter how you slice and dice it. it's a twin pack there.

if bro Man brings some good music then I don't care if he is ashy and looks like a reject Fat Boy as long as his stuff is tight.
138638, Of course he's trying to sell units but I don't think D's intention was
Posted by vee-lover, Fri Jun-11-10 07:28 PM
to have people simply fawning over him and his physique and forgetting about his music when he first got into shape but that's what happened.

His musicianship ended up taking a backseat to the whole sex symbol thing and as his trainer pointed out, he wasn't getting into shape for the right reasons which is why D became a prisoner to the image he helped to create. At least this time, by making it more of a lifestyle, he won't have to worry about the weight fluctuations he went through the 1st time.
138639, good PR you do,
Posted by , Fri Jun-11-10 07:40 PM
he knew what he was doing and he used it to his advantage, and he sold it in a big way. dude was making himself appeal and he used metaphors and things.

his biggest Problems is making sure he has songs. again can he make music that holds up and not weed tracks that drain him.

no excuses for being away a decade that is just either he flipped or was lazy and scurred!

I'm sure he knew the response he would get but at the same time, I don't think he believed his music/artistry would seem secondary to the sex symbol thing.

I have not the slightest doubt that his music will be better than your current fav R&B artist when he returns. I would prefer his music over any other R&B artist out there. Making songs that people like is the last thing I worried about from him.
>

And maybe it was all of the above...and then some. Ish happens. Just as long as he drops some music that's sonically on point is all that will matter in the end.

come on stop being naive as big of a Prince fan D'angelo is, he knew that stripping in a video or posing would get that kind of response. he was very calculating and the reaction he got scurred him off and he choked. 1)

dude please R.Kelly is Shaq to D'angelo's Stanley Roberts. one Man got 4 rings and the other guy has Ring around the collar.
R.Kelly done made better albums, songs, tours, and far more of a cultural impact than Mumblo.

Joe also got Mumblo beat. Joe is a way better artist than D'angelo as well IMO.

Keith Sweat as well.

D'angelo better hope he can make at least a record on Dwele's level. 2)

nobody is gonna lose sleep over what D'angelo does. he needs a couple of big hits and a good album and then tour. 3)
138642, Dwele level ? seriously lol

138646, why the FUCK do people spell his name with an 'e'
Posted by Anonymous, Fri Jun-11-10 03:23 PM
like, have you never paid attention to how he spells it?

do you just not give a fuck?

are you a complete fucking idiot?

i swear dumb shit that doesn't make sense pisses me off.

spell it with an E.

And anyway, it really ain't that serious.
138650, of course it ain't serious

I'm not over here throwing things at the wall.

I'm not losing sleep over it.

I'm just commenting on it being stupid as fuck.

you're a fan of D'Angelo not Deangelo man.

you know who one of my favorites is? Jon Lennon.

you about to cop that new Big Boy album dropping? that dude from Outcast?

what about Billy Holiday? you got any of her stuff?

did you see my post about Most Def?

I can't lie, I've been trying to keep up with Sizzler's catalogue but he's just got too many albums.

I can't believe they made Smith & Wesson change their name to Coco Brothers!
138651, And if you spelled those artists names incorrectly
Posted by vee-lover, Fri Jun-11-10 03:51 PM
as you purposely did, it ain't like people are going to be scratching their heads wondering who you're talking about notwithstanding the incorrect spelling. Deangelo or D'Angelo, people know exactly who it is, period. It's not as if I called him Deion.

>lol @ you trying to disregard some dumb shit.

yeah it is dumb that you're persisting with such petty non sense. So you want to challenge me to a spelling bee or something?

The most common spelling is Dwayne. The second most common is Duane.

Dewayne? WTF is that?

And D'Angelo is a much, much more common spelling than DeAngelo.

But that's beside the point: as such a huge fan of this artist, it's surprising that you consistently misspell his name. I mean, it's written on all his album covers.

I'm not necessarily siding with Anonymous is making a big deal of it, mind; I just think it's curious that you would be working so hard to defend it.

No, actually it's the other way around. Duane is the most common way to spell the name
>
>Dewayne? WTF is that?

You never heard someone spell the Dewayne with an "e?" A guy who I went to school with who was voted Tennessee's Mr. Basketball spelled his name as Dewayne. But that's beside the point because I have never heard someone spell the name the way (Dwyane) Wade does which was my point about how people spell, what are considered by most to be pretty common names, differently or (incorrectly).
>
>And D'Angelo is a much, much more common spelling than

Ok, and? One of the best Running backs in the NFL spells his name *Deangelo* (with an E) as well as Washington Redskins corner back Deangelo Hall (who also spells it with an E). Now, I've seen people spell their names as D'Angelo w/o the E all the time because it is a rather common mistake when there's only one letter that separates the spelling.
>
>But that's beside the point: as such a huge fan of this

How do you know I constantly misspell his name? And the aforementioned football players have their names taped on the back of their jerseys and people still sometimes misspell their names, so spare me "it's on his CD" non sense. I've also seen people spell Lauryn Hill's name as Lauren...

Dude, I'm not defending anything. What are you talking about? I already said I was in err but dude was persisting like that's such an egregious and unforgivable error and how I should be ashamed of myself for committing such a careless and idiotic mistake.

I acknowledged the misspelling but this dude basically wanted to try and insult me over something really trivial. So of course I wasn't having that and basically was telling this dude to simmer down.
138671, you got defensive from the jump AND
Posted by Anonymous, Fri Jun-11-10 08:41 PM
if you read my first reply I said "why do *people* spell his name…"

yea, you reminded me of the misspelling with this post, but I've definitely seen it before.

I just kept going with you because you got defensive.

and you can kill your excuse of "a lot of people spell it Deangelo" because that doesn't matter.

the artist you claim to be such a fan of, does NOT spell it that way, so why mess it up unless you just are that ignorant to the spelling?

138672, Have you forgotten that fast what you said? It wasn't just some

"why do people misspell his name" non sense. I suggest you go back and read your post #11. Don't try and make it seem as if I got defensive for no reason. You went off the deep end and it wasn't that serious at all. No matter the spelling, I betcha I can find his CD in the music store or on the internet which is all that counts.

If trivial non sense such as this pisses you off that much I highly suggest you go and get some pussy too to relieve some of that sexual frustration.

As I said before, I've seen people spell Lauryn Hill name as Lauren...it's an error but nothing to get bent out of shape over.

138673, it's not about the spelling error man
Posted by Anonymous, Fri Jun-11-10 10:00 PM
you don't get it.

it's the simple fact, you claim to be a fan, you just posted a link with the correct spelling and you still spelled the shit wrong.

it's the complete disregard for simple facts that is very telling about you my friend.

give me one good reason why you would continue to misspell his name.

and I don't care how a couple football players spell it. they have nothing to do with D'Angelo the singer.

is your brain that low-functioning that you can't distinguish which way certain people spell their name so you just lump them all in together?

and whoever fucks up Lauryn Hill's name, give them the same message.

My suggestion is to step away from the keyboard from time to time and do something constructive like get some pussy or read a book.

on a message board no less. you talk a lot of trash when things are going your way and get ghost with the quickness when an L comes your way. i'd hate to see you in a barber shop. you'd probably cry.

138692, see, this is how I know you're lame and a cornball. If you think I

I've been *wrong* on several occasions and took whatever digs came my way because that's the nature of sports (talk). But don't worry, since you and others want me back posting on OKS so badly, I will grant your wishes in due time...but believe me, having not posted in a month and a half HAD NOTHING to do with me avoiding dudes on a message board...but I'll let you and whoever else continue to think that if it helps you sleep at night.

And further more, I don't "talk shit." I say what I believe and I stand by it, period.

I post for fun. In no way do I take posting that serious that I would avoid posting on here because the team I predicted would win didn't. This too ain't that serious. LOL

>Seriously.

>But this whole "I'm not around and you'll see why

yeah, cuz someone created a post about my absence and I couldn't help but to see how long you all were going to let that go on. And I couldn't have you or anyone else thinking that I wasn't posting because Lebron lost in the playoffs. I predicted they would win last year too and they lost and I was right there on OKS listening to whomever talk trash.
138697, Okidok man.

lol... OKS has a culture all it's own, and it's roughly the equivalent of the barber shop. talking trash is essentially the heart of that entire culture, and OKS is no different. it's not "serious" and it's just trash talk, nothing more, so the fact that you A. completely avoided the board after the cavs got their ass handed to them speaks volumes whether you want to admit it or not- and not admitting it makes it worse.

B. the fact that you actually made that gay ass "da god has returned" post trying to spin it like people actually cared that you were gone when in fact nobody cared, they just thought it was funny that you were too pussy to come in and take your digs on a message board.

>I've been *wrong* on several occasions and took whatever digs
>came my way because that's the nature of sports (talk).

LOL, certainly not this one.

>don't worry, since you and others want me back posting on OKS
>so badly, I will grant your wishes in due time...

LOL. alllrighty. you are more delustional then spm and that's saying a lot. nobody wants you back, nobody cares in the least that you're gone, but we do think your a pussy for avoiding the inevitable for so long, which was the entire point of El's post to begin with.

but believe
>me, having not posted in a month and a half HAD NOTHING to do

sure it didn't. you seem quite happy posting about crackhead D over here though, just saying.

the Cavs were going to win or that Atlanta will make it out of the 1st round this year or Boston should have made a trade at the half way point, that hardly constitutes "talking shit" or "talking in spite."

The Cavs lost. Many ppl had them winning it all. I don't see that at all as being a terrible prediction. You're just making things up because I think you dudes must have missed me posting or something.

wrong is something I've done plenty of times and it was no big deal as far as I'm concerned. Yeah, you have to listen ppl say your team lost and you were wrong but that is hardly something to make me NOT post because I don't want to hear the taunts. I'm in company with many ppl, including many so called experts, who made the same predictions about the Cavs and Boston.

bombaclaat, loophole my azz. If saying I thought Cleveland would win it all and they failed to do so is to me no huge L at all. I said they would win it all last year and they didn't...so I don't want dudes to think I took posting that serious to avoid coming on OKAYPLAYER. Believe me, that ain't have nothing to do with why I wasn't posting.

And hold up...who the hellz is you talking about this is why ppl have a problem with me? LOL Dude, trust me when I tell you that I don't go to sleep wondering how to make friends on a message board. And do you even post in OKS? so in the words of EPMD..."so what you saying?"

You do realize we were just talking sports, right? Anything on OKS or the Lesson for that matter is really inconsequential to any and everyone lives who posts on here?

No, seriously...if we were face to face and you were attempting to make this an issue, I'm sure you would be the one ppl would be trying to get away from because of your annoyance. When ppl misspell someone's name as people often do...the person who harps on it is w/o a doubt the annoying one.

>honestly, a spelling mistake is not that serious, but this
>type of mistake is just so telling of how this pussy

is that so? LOL...I like how you draw so much from a slight misspelling. Again, shows how narrow minded you really are.

138729, lol nah that "beef" is basically him vs all of OKS!
Posted by Cold Truth, Fri Jun-11-10 10:39 PM
it's him vs the sports board as a whole. 85% of the main nba contingency is clowning him for turning into a nancy after game 5 of the eastern conference semis.

it's really an entertaining story and worth 5 minutes to skim the recent history.

it basically starts here: http://board.okayplayer.com/okp.php?az=show_topic&forum=8&topic_id=1498159&mesg_id=1498159&page=8

granted, that doesn't give the background of allllll the shit he pops, but a simple search of his name in sports will turn up all sorts of outlandish shit.

anyhow, then this joke of a poster went and posted THIS epic piece of delusional, ego driven dreck to make matters considerably worse for himself: http://board.okayplayer.com/okp.php?az=show_topic&forum=8&topic_id=1505021&mesg_id=1505021&page=

which led to this: http://board.okayplayer.com/okp.php?az=show_topic&forum=8&topic_id=1509893&mesg_id=1509893&page=1, which is musing about how vee is posting up in the lesson, continuiing to avoid the sports board.

which brings us to me posting up in this thread, because it's just too much fun to pass up lol.
138730, nah only the lames like you who are staking out my return

this my 1st post since early May and am I suppose to check in with you and whoever else on OKS? you sound like a teenage girl who got spurned by the high school jock. LOL...to think I'm avoiding you and others because I couldn't take people saying you got an L because your team lost is comedy that I can't help but to see how long you all will let this drag out.
