302457, Slang =/= Coding
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Sat Jun-24-17 05:32 PM
Haven't had a lot of sleep the last couple of days while working on a project. To kill time, my brother and I would go back and forth on Messenger. Naturally we used some slang as we recapped viral videos.

When I went back to coding, why did I misspell one of my Boolean flags, 'is_fount'?

Compilers are by nature buzz killers, but I should have ran the script just to see if it would have said, "No, we don't want you speaking in ebonics on the job."
302607, I can't contribute, but that is pretty funny

edit - I do like to use profanity with variable names if I'm frustrated and/or the code I'm working on is wack.

I had never thought of using cuss words as variable names. Very creative idea. God knows I've wished compilers would convert infinite loops which printed 'Fuck you' into human language so that it would understand me.

i don't think that I ever even spelled fount outside of code, let alone in code
