You're right. 5K for the 'entry' level iMac is a lot of coin.

I couldn't see hard core gamers spending 5K, at the least, for this device.

The only market I could see for this is IT professionals who need high powered workstations for data-intensive processing or develop cutting-edge software. I could see video editors or CG designers getting a lot out of the hardware as well.

It was crazy tho to see the crowd get hyped for the iMac and then let out some polite applause at the price.
302341, that price is nuts, but YO! EXTERNAL GPU SUPPORT COMING

iOS 11, HomePod and that new iPad Pro are the only things that really got my RDF flowing.

$5k for a Mac isn't that new. Maxed out PowerPC Mac were that expensive. Sometimes more. The 20th anniversary Mac was like $10k.
302354, I ordered my 27 inch 3TB iMac though...upped it to i7 too

302431, 128 gigs of RAM bruh, an 18 core Xenon processor

I want so bad that it's not even funny. My plans for all that ram would blow your mind. The high spec version has to start at 14K easily. Apple desktops last for a long time so it's worth the price.
