Not great, not awful, and it varies by game CPU/GPU load. I play mine docked, my kids will take it from time to time, play it undocked, if the battery runs out they put it back in the dock. I think we live in a time where we all carry extra batteries and charger cords for our phones and tablets and the like and this just fits right in.
