Gets loud if I want and the sound quality has impressed me since day 1. Plus it's fully waterproof. Love it.

I haven't tested the market but I got the UE Roll as a gift. Small, durable and waterproof. It gets decently loud but is probably missing the bass of bigger speakers. Not sure what kind of traveling you're doing but it comes with a bungee cord attached which makes it super easy to clasp onto things. Not saying it's the best but I like it.
