this seems like a flavor of the month game that is benefiting greatly from a release window with zero competition. on the past two bombcasts it seemed like jeff had already turned on it within the first week and jason has already seen when he's going to stop playing it

edit: not to imply that it's not fun. it must be fun if so many people are playing it. i just wonder if they are going to be playing a month from now

i love Gertsmann, but he sounds bored by almost every game.

that said, i could see it being flavor of the month, because most people are pretty flaky with games and ready to move on to new shit. i mean, even i'm that way.

and it's a small, simple game. it's soccer with rocket cars. that's it.

but it's legit great. it's fun from jump, and the simple controls got a high skill ceiling. being that it's PC/PS4 crossplay, i think there is going to be a sizable group of diehards that play the fuck out of this for months after the gen-pop fades away.

yeah but he's almost always on point with his game mechanics criticisms, which is one of the problems he has with rocket league. but you're right. he hates most online MP games. his assessment of rocket league may not be coming from the most unbiased place

And it feels like the devs are interested in making a strong push to raise the game up to that eSport tier of gaming. So I think it could stick around, though the difficulty of the aerial game (which is what makes the game truly exciting) will definitely dissuade a lot of casual players from sticking with it.

...i love that you can fire up the ps4 and be playing in a few seconds ...after every game i find myself saying "just one more game" ..2 hours later, STILL playing

I'm really really bad at it so far but I'm having a great time.

The whole thing sounded dumb but it was free and I kept seeing good reviews so the first time I played it I ended up going for 4 hours straight. I only stopped because it was close to 3am and I didn't want to sleep the whole day away.

Nice break from stressful competitive games. This has the potential to be competitive too but this is really fun so far. Can't wait to play more of this.

I noticed that I can't be boosting into the ball, have to hit it at regular speed to get a good lift without too much power.

Arena feels a little small, but it's fun and changes the game enough to keep it exciting.

Got it for the XBONE (the real reason I got one besides the price). Haven't tried the update yet. Love the basic game. Soooo much fun with three friends.

Rocketed from Gold 3 to Plat 2 in less than an hour. on track to diamond. IT FELLS SO MUCH BETTER. wow. I've been thinking i just plateaued, but it actually was the controls.

way faster to every ball. shots are way more accurate. i don't feel gaslit by the controls when i KNOW i hit that right.

Been playing on the PS4 til i switched over to PC and bought this again (though it was free on PSN). Never heard of this.

but yeah, you just kinda have to work with it to get your flavor. Your aerials will be way more confident and you can actually jump as early as your brain says you need to and not fly past the ball. Microboosting and powersliding are way more responsive too so you can turn around MUCH faster. Faster and more comfortably than you think you would.

So i put my controller DZ to .15 and Dodge DZ to .30. I have definitely felt the benefits of "do as i think" but just wanted to know you're input/advice on these settings as it seems these are the ones that impact the game the most.
