300003, I'd recommend hitting the practice range.

Depending on your playstyle, find a hero or two in each role that feels comfortable. Some recs for starting out:

Offense: Soldier 76 (closest to COD-style), McCree (short/midrange brawler)

Defense: Bastion (mobile turret), Torbjorn (builds turrets; so good on consoles that his turret is getting nerfed)

Tank: Roadhog (shotguns and hook)

Support: Lucio (aura healer, high survivability)

One other recommendation... by default Jump is mapped to A, which is extremely cumbersome for certain characters that rely on it heavily (Lucio, Genji, Mercy and Pharah in particular). That said, many other heroes also benefit from being able to jump like a madman without taking your thumb off RS. You can change your mapping per hero (and you should), but since Jump is a universal action it may behoove you to map it to something like LB from the very start to get used to it.

Once you get used to some of the basic mechanics, then you can practice against the AI. The matchmaking in the game is actually pretty good; even if you want to jump in against other people, you should get matched up with similarly skilled players.
