299862, What's interesting...

is that the competitive meta is so far different from the public meta. Bastion and Torbjorn are two of the three least played heroes (Zenyatta's the worst) but they're two of the most beast on pubbies. Hanzo is another one that's barely used on competitive but often gets the POTG in pubbies.

In the competitive meta the mainstays are (in order of importance): Mercy, McCree, Reinhardt, Widowmaker, Winston, Lucio. Most other heroes are subbed in for specialist duties depending on what part of the map, but besides the three mentioned above Mei, Hanzo and D.VA are almost never used.

Those statistics are based on PC competitive play. Unsurprisingly, there are also platform meta differences too. Torbjorn and Bastion are obviously stronger on consoles and Widowmaker is a must-have on your team on PC. Pharah is also weaker on console because of her movement style (BUMPER JUMPER).

I'm guessing once the public ranked mode hits, it's going to gravitate towards the competitive meta. There's already some grumblings from pro players about how certain areas of the map are "solved" and the top ranks of ranked mode are going to imitate professional play (much like Hearthstone). McCree is definitely getting nerfed soon (less base FTH damage) and Widowmaker is expected to get hit too (maybe less survivability up close? this one is less clear). There's also talk about buffing D.VA (damage or survivability, not both) and fixing Roadhog's hook (less buggy). That should shake things up too.

As an aside, if you haven't yet, map Jump to a top button if you play on console if you like Lucio, Pharah, Genji or Mercy, at least for their specific controls. It's so critical to be able to Jump while keeping your thumb on RS, especially for more advanced maneuvering. Even if it's not critical to the character, jumping around while shooting makes headshots on you a lot more difficult.
